Frequently Asked Questions

Navigating Through the Home Care Arena
To better assist in understanding the benefits of professional home health care services Jennifer Witten RN, BSN, MPA, Managing Member of IMANI Home Health Care of Cleveland responds to the following common questions regarding the use of home care services.

Q. How does a person know if home care is right for them?
A. A telephone call to your local home care agency of choice will allow you to review your health concerns or support needs with a person specially trained in home care guidelines.  Here at IMANI, we have a group of specialized nurses that can answer all of your care and insurance eligibility questions. Our nurse, together with you and your physician, can determine if home care is appropriate.

Q. Why would an individual want a home care nurse or aide?
A. Individuals living in their own home or apartment often desire, and require some assistance with activities of daily living in order to maintain an independent lifestyle. Allowing an aide or a nurse to assist you during this time helps you “get back on your feet again” and enhance your capabilities wherever you call home.

Q. How long would someone be able to have a nurse, therapist, or aide in the home?
A. It depends on your condition and the severity of your needs.  Care covered by major insurance programs is usually provided until your independence in the home, or a more moderate goal, is achieved.  IMANI accepts Medicare, Medicaid, PASSPORT and other insurance plans. Services by a nurse, therapist or home health aide can also be provided under self-pay arrangements.

Q. Is it safe to have a home care aide in the home?
A. Yes.  Operating under strict governmental guidelines, a certified home health agency must employ individuals who are specifically trained in home care, bonded, and supervised on an ongoing basis by a professional nurse. These guidelines ensure that  health care workers sent into the homes are accountable, reliable, and skilled.

Q. What are home support arrangements?
A. Private pay home support arrangements are a selection of personalized services offered by IMANI. This service enables individuals to remain in their living environments with support services provided by a specially trained aide from IMANI.  The aide assists the resident with daily activities such as personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, errands, companionship and laundry. The aide service is “task oriented” thereby keeping the cost of this service at a convenient affordable monthly price.
